When the world seems to be out of control, events happening that cannot be controlled by you or me or most anyone else…when life hands out the lemons and seems to be sour…there is one Person and one Person alone to whom we can turn for help…the Lord Jesus Christ. It is hard to understand, in fact, may even be impossible to understand the “˜whys’ of events. God promised an answer to life and its many problems…His promises pointed to His Son, the Messiah. In the Old Testament the prophecies, the laws, the rituals – all point to Jesus, the Christ (Messiah). In God’s timing, Jesus was foretold to Mary…who would be His mother and He would be called the Son of God.

(NASB) Luke 1:32 “He (Jesus) will be great and will be called the Son of the Most High; and the Lord God will give Him the throne of His father David;”

The angel Gabriel told Mary God’s message of the Son she would have by natural birth.

And why is King David important in Jesus’ lineage? Because it was through David that Jesus will one day rule and reign as King. Both Mary and Joseph traced their lineage back to David. (See Matthew 1:6, 16 for Mary’s lineage – See Luke 3:23, 31 for Joseph’s lineage)

(NASB) Luke 1:33 “and He will reign over the house of Jacob forever, and His kingdom will have no end.”

Jesus – is the Name which is above all names, “Son of the Most High”, King Eternal.

Knowledge is wonderful and there are many ways to learn about Jesus…through Biblically based sermons, group Bible Studies, Christian seminars, radio and TV, books and places on the internet such as this devotional and through personal study.

What you and I do with that knowledge is important…do we feel satisfied when our knowledge has expanded? Or do we sense that we need to have our relationship with the Lord Jesus growing deeper, more intimate and helping us to put His words into practice in the day-to-day realities of our lives?

God’s prophecies have been fulfilled in Jesus and are continuing to be fulfilled and only God can weave all things of history and today together to complete His promises in and through the Lord Jesus.

Your life is important to this God who weaves events into His timetable. Only God can have this kind of power. As a follower of Christ you can have the assurance that victory is for certain.

God’s word never fails.

God’s work never fails.

God never fails.

Keeping our eyes upon Jesus

in the face of troubling times

is the reality of faith in action.

How shall you now pray?
